Environmentally conscious developments in initiation systems

Environmentally conscious developments in initiation systems – Rechargeable batteries, reducing waste whilst maintaining performance.

We continue our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and focus on reducing waste related to the usage of our products.

Our environmental philosophy has driven regular test and evaluation of COTS PP3 battery performance against the requirements of our initiation systems. Recent developments in rechargeable batteries have provided encouraging test results and we are now delighted that Energizer NH22N batteries can now be capably deployed with our Mini-Shrike and Breach MC Systems as widely in service around the world.

These rechargeable batteries now provide near comparative performance in shot numbers achievable against that of legacy non-rechargeable batteries and alongside an expected life of 500 charging cycles, we are confident this could lead to a reduction in use of thousands of disposable batteries each year across our systems in service, providing both a considerable reduction in waste but also cost to the user.

This step change in rechargeable battery capability has allowed us to immediately implement rechargeable battery usage within manufacture and test.

We continue our philosophy of always thinking green and demanding less waste across our portfolio.
